![]() King of the Hill's second season was its most successful, drawing in 16.3 million viewers, making it the 15th most-watched show that year. Though there were initially rumors that the rights to the series would be purchased by another network for another season, Fox opted for syndication, leaving four episodes unaired until May 2010, when they ran in both syndication and on Adult Swim. Though the tenth season in 2005 was initially intended to be its last, the series ran through the 2008 – 2009 season. This marked a shift in storytelling, as the characters ceased aging and a handful of characters' backgrounds were retroactively changed. The series aired six seasons with Judge and Daniels at the helm, followed by writers John Altschuler and Dave Krinsky taking over in 2002 for the seventh season. The series debuted on January 12th, 1997 as a mid-season replacement, attracting 8.6 million viewers over the course of its first 12 episodes. Judge was so pleased with these rewrites, he gave Daniels a co-creator credit on the show instead of a developer credit usually attributed to assigned writers. Fox paired him with Greg Daniels who rewrote the pilot, focusing his writing on character development. show concept for King of the Hill was conceived by Mike Judge in 1995, loosely inspired by his own past experience of living in suburban Texas. Instagram user shared the video that day, garnering over 5,000 views in a comparable span of time. On April 28th, 2021, Twitter user posted an edit of the scene referencing the video game Omori, garnering over 5,100 likes and 1,000 retweets in 10 hours (shown below). On June 19th, Twitter user posted the scene with the intention for use as a reaction. On January 5th, 2019, Instagram user posted a version of the meme featuring a clip of Ray William Johnson (shown below). On November 17th, Youtuber Pomme de Terre uploaded a compilation of the edits, garnering over 94,000 views in two years. By November the edits saw a peak in popularity, resulting in numerous variations (examples shown below, left and right). On October 23rd, YouTuber Bleu Chicken reuploaded Spirit's video, garnering over 60,000 views in a comparable span of time. On October 20th, YouTuber Spirit uploaded an edit in which Yoshi smashes Hank with a hammer, garnering over 8,900 views in a comparable span of time (shown below, right). On October 16th, YouTuber That one Glitchyeasteregg posted an edit combining the clip with Steamed Hams, garnering over 10,000 views in roughly two years (shown below, left). On May 22nd, YouTuber Aguanta Outcasts posted the scene unedited, garnering over 300,000 views in two years. The scene was the subject of a number of low effort edits over the course of the next few months, including a December 22nd edit by YouTuber Landeaux? and a March 23rd, 2018 We'll Be Right Back edit by Josh Gibson (shown below), neither gaining significant attention. On November 18th, 2017, YouTuber Lelinai uploaded the isolated clip of Hank saying "I'm about to bust" and walking into Adderly's room, garnering over 4,000 views in three years. Hank's son Bobby claims Adderly is one of his role models. Hank then screams in horror as he sees Adderly, a wrinkled boy with very little hair, big glasses, and a goblin-like appearance, gaming at his computer (shown below). In one scene there is a flashback where Hank Hill walks into a young boy named Howard Adderly's room accidentally, thinking it's the house's bathroom. On February 9th, 1997, King of the Hill Season 1 Episode 4, titled "Hank's Got The Willies" aired on North American television.
